Here are some of our psychological treatment programs:

  • Insight Oriented Therapy - Insight oriented therapy is designed to improve a patients self-awareness and help guide them to identifying past events than can shape their current thoughts, feelings and behaviors. For many people, these insights can lead to dramatic improvements in the quality of their lives.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy - The range of emotions and their ability to change on a dime is a common aspect of depression. This unique approach to depression treatment helps patients develop special strategies to understand and cope with these fluctuations of mood and emotions. Our clinicians are trained to instill the skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal skills. These skill can help patients to avoid extreme behaviors that inhibit them socially.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - This therapy is geared toward identifying and challenging a patients negative thought pattern. It will help encourage behaviors that will counter-act these negative thoughts and emotions and replace them with more positive and affirming ones.

Depression Medication

Treating depression can be an extremely complicated matter to undertake. For many patients psychotherapy, although extremely effective, may not be enough to complete the task of overcoming depression. In order to supplement the shortfalls in depression treatment, you may receive anti-depressants. Because depression is such a unique and complicated condition, there are large number of depression medications that are currently on the market. These medications are designed to supplement hormones that are not present in the brain or to facilitate sensitivity of neuro-receptors. Upon starting a regimen of anti depressants, patients should be aware that it usually takes a couple of prescriptions until the right one is found that works best for you. This is because every individual medication is a little different and works differently in your body. During this stage it is important to relate to your doctor at the North Hills Center any adverse side effects or improvements you feel. Upon your diagnosis of depression types of depression medication will be discussed between patient and doctor.
